NOVEMBER 2009 - PRESS RELEASE

Greenhill acquired by leading electric golf trolley components manufacturer Standel Dawman

(Lancashire, UK – November 4, 2009) Greenhill, golf’s best-engineered electric trolleys, manufactured in the UK, has been acquired by established engineering firm Standel Dawman.

Standel Dawman, with its headquarters and factory in Lancashire, has been behind the design and precision engineering of millions of electric trolley components since 1978, supplying many of the world’s leading brands and earning an unmatched reputation for reliability.

The acquisition of Greenhill, which Standel Dawman previously supplied, now gives the engineering firm the opportunity to deploy its design and manufacturing expertise and create its own golf trolleys, combining original, market leading technologies and components.

Philip Kyle, Standel Dawman managing director, said: “To date we have manufactured and supplied to the electronic golf trolley industry more than two million wheels, one million clutches, 200,000 gearboxes and hundreds of thousands of other components including axles and speed controllers. Our products are in use on many market-leading models worldwide.

“Having acquired the Greenhill brand and business, and benefiting from the positive shift back towards manufacturing in the UK, we now have the opportunity to design and manufacture our own high-performance electric golf trolley models, and create desirable, reliable products for retailers and consumers alike.”

Greenhill started making electric golf trolleys in 1994, with Standel Dawman supplying many of the components. Former Greenhill managing director Jim Knott remains involved with the brand in a sales and marketing capacity.

All Greenhill trolleys will be manufactured at Standel Dawman’s factory in Lancashire, resulting in a high-quality British product offering consumers superb performance and value, and retailers outstanding margin.

Philip Kyle added: “All our trolleys are designed and built in-house by expert engineers, which ensures high build quality and tightly controlled costs, savings which are passed on directly to retailers and consumers.

“We have recently invested more than £750,000 in new machines for our factory, and our designers and engineers are continually innovating and developing technologies for electric golf trolleys, which the market will see over the coming year – we are extremely excited about the future for Greenhill.”

Among Greenhill’s new products, launched at the TGI Golf Show, is the PTS model, featuring a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), similar to the system used by Formula One cars, to recharge the battery during the round.
